Yes, it couldn't hurt. I have the straps ordered. They are only a little over $50/set. Replacement isn't hard either.

I am so behind the 8 ball getting my TT winterized. It has either been raining or I end crazy busy on the weekends after I clear my calendar. Sucks to be me. But I retire in April and head to Maine in May. Yeah me. Hoping to buy my house in NC if the land works out and my mobile home pans out. Revolving door life. I hate it but heck after April? Sleeping in retired.

Other than Auto Zone sending out the wrong front strap the first time, the job went very well.

We're catching our share of the nor'easter today. Flood warnings all over the place. Got nuthin' done outside at all.

To our friends in Texas and surrounding regions: It looks like our “bomb cyclone” made its way to your neck of the woods. So sorry. We were glad to get rid of it, but would have preferred it died somewhere and didn’t inflict more damage like it did to our state. Hope you are safe and good riddance to that nasty weather.

Just checking in to see if we have a winner yet. Looks like the game is still a go! ;o)

Picking off the garbage truck is kicking my butt!! Well, it is getting a lot better. The ole' body had to get to use to working hard again. Last job had its moments, but I held a chair down quite a lot, too. Strength sure has increased a bunch; arms, abs, legs... also, I like the hours; anywhere from starting at 3 am to 5 am and finishing whenever the route is done. Sometimes out before 11 am and others out after 3 pm. Some 12 to 14.5 hour days depending on the route length.

But on the other side of things, my body is aching and has pains everywhere. Hoping it gets better, but the hip isn't liking this too much; doesn't help I had that motorcycle/deer accident 5 years ago. Oh well, let's see what the good Lord has in store for me in the near future.

Hope you all are doing great!

Good for you — and hang in there! Ain’t an easy job, for sure. Just last week in our city, a sanitation truck driver ran over a homeless woman who was sleeping in the alley near the dumpster he was tipping. She was wearing black and, of course, it was in the wee hours. DOA at the hospital. Feel terrible for the driver to go through that. Be safe!

I worry about hitting a pedestrian that is dressed in dark clothing on the way to work.

Oh, no doubt. I was driving to meet one of the drivers to dump my box into his truck before the sun came up, and as I was approaching from behind, I could barely make out that he was dumping a tote at the rear of his truck. Wow, not the way I like it. I wear ANSI rated safety gear and stand out a mile away. Don't know why some drivers don't want to be seen. But our boss doesn't enforce it, so it's up to each driver. (Most do wear the reflective stuff like I do, though.)

Hi ya! Yeah, hanging in there. It's gotten a lot better overall. Had the flu two weeks ago so that put me out of commission for a solid week. Still getting over the head cold stuff now, for a week!

But my memorization of the routes has improved big time. Had a personal best on my longest route last Thursday. I start at 3 AM and my last pick was at 12:22 PM. Only two little goofs where I second-guessed myself. Otherwise, the routes are really coming along.

Hope all had a great Thanksgiving and are doing well!

Nothing like getting sick with a new job! Glad you’re feeling better. Pace yourself — especially during the holidays. And be ready for the heavy-load days right after Christmas!

I know, I felt so bad, too. I haven't been that sick in over 20 years! I was so wiped out. Then I find out that one of the guys that was suppose to help on a Saturday, (because of the holiday), called in to say he couldn't come in because he was drinking the night before. DOH! And, to make matters even worse for the workforce, a driver called in and couldn't make it either. Dang! And there wasn't anything I could do to help (but, I didn't know of their problems until I went back to work myself). It's a small crew as it is, and when someone doesn't make it, it's doable (bcuz the trash never stops) but harder on everyone. When 2 or more are off, whoa! not a good day for everyone that's there. Tell ya what, those that are there should get a bonus on days like that.

At the plant where I work at if 3 people are gone, we do not run the mill.
