Uber

Traveling to a conference this weekend. I'm considering leaving my truck at the hotel and taking an Uber in to the city since parking is at a premium, especially for a larger vehicle.

For those of you that have used the service, please talk to me about your experience. I'm a complete Uber rookie so any info you can provide would be welcomed.

I drive some for Uber and Lyft. Usually you get a clean driver and car. Most of the time better than a taxi.

I think I understand how to request a ride online. Should I download the app or will the online version work OK?

Also, I will have rolling equipment case with me. I'd there a way to notify the driver that I have a large bag or will they assume that people may come with luggage?

We use it quite a bit... EXCELLENT experience. We have used it in New Orleans, Tampa, Miami/Ft Lauderdale and a lot at home in Salt Lake City.

Utah now has a .05 BAC law, and if we are going to any social gathering where we might have just one drink - we take Uber so we both can have a couple cold ones! It is way cheaper than a taxi, we usually are picked up within 5-7 minutes too.

It depends on how big and heavy your load is. If it will fit in a regular car trunk, shouldn't be any trouble. Some driver's won't or don't lift heavy loads. I use the app myself.

I downloaded the Uber app myself and used it in Puerto Rico. Worked well, shows you the types reg, large, luxury available and prices. Also show you what type car and drivers name when you book. Shows a little map where your ride is in reference to you.

After your trip it gives you an opportunity to tip the driver and leave a rating.

I've used Uber in several countries and have never had a bad experience.
