Replacing the standard tail lights with Bargeman LED lights for a lot more visibility. Then swapping all the standard marker lights with led marker lights just to make it look nicer. With a 5000 mile trip planned this summer, I want high visibility to be a priority at night.

Last week was busy with continuing to clean & prep for the first trip of the season. Took me 3 days to clean/polish/wax the GH 31SS, clean the awning and check things out in general, then started gathering up all the stuff that had been removed for winter storage. Yesterday I loaded up my clothes and Roxy's stuff (our boxer), made sure the fridge was still working, and gave the DW a short lesson on driving the monster. Well, she moved the monster out of in front of the garage door so we could park her car inside due to possible storms moving thru overnight, and then moved it back so I could plug the unit up to cool the fridge off some more. Leaving this morning for a few days near the GSMNP.

Brought it home from storage last night. Replaced the bent outer link plates for the spring bar perches with better designed ones, flipped the valves out of "winter" position and rinsed HWH, turned on fridge to get it cooled down, replaced one bank of cabin lights with new LED (best one so far of all the ones I've tried), Ran the awning out so it would dry (we've had A LOT of rain lately), black tank was a little smelly so I put some orange stuff down there (will fill up the tank a bit before my trip so it sloshes around some), checked tire pressure (still haven't lost a single PSI).
Got a lot more planned for this week including new screen door handle, digital thermostat, and a bunch of other stuff I can't remember...

Today we used a hole saw drill bit to make a 1 3/4" hole on the entertainment center and applied a plastic grommet. Then we threaded our satellite receiver cords through it. Removed the radio/DVD player until we got everything squared away and then put it back. Didn't want to drill a hole in the radio. Now it's not messy looking with cords dangling all over. This was our first permanent modification.

Installed new digital thermostat (easy wire-for-wire swap), function tested, all good.
Installed cross-bar on screen door. Easy install, and now I can get the door closed from inside without leaning WAY out the trailer.
Went back to 5 washers on the WDH. We'll see how she tows on Thursday.
Bled the air out of the propane lines.
Began making ice for the trip!

Washed and waxed about two-thirds before going camping. Installed the under sink quick disconnect water filter.

Finally got all of the outside storage compartments loaded with the usual outside storage stuff. Had to buy new plastic totes to fit the spaces. Problem with buying an ultra lite trailer is the lack of space. On the bright side, eliminated a lot of unnecessary stuff!

Put on the bumper struts...hopefully they strengthen the bumper the way they are supposed to! Also made the cover over the cooktop from a cutting board. Ready to head to Palo Duro Canyon at the end of the month!

I changed the locks on the compartments to Campco Ace style key instead of the common CH-751.
Replaced the nuts on the battery post to wing nuts to easily disconnect the battery.
Measured and readjusted the WD mounts on tongue. One keeps moving forward.

Bought the necessary wrenches at Lowes to adjust my WD hitch to the new TV.
I have 2 questions for those of you who have more WD hitch experience that I. 1) If you can't get the top of the ball to exactly the same height of the top of the ball socket, is it better to raise the ball 1.5 inches or lower it about 1 inch? My thinking is, I would like the front of the TT slightly high plus the TV will settle down a little once the weight is put on the ball, and, 2) Is there a risk in oversizing the swing bars? I'm running 800/8000 right now but may step up to 1000/10000 when I switch this hitch assembly over to my cargo trailer. Any suggestions, lessons-learned, etc., would be appreciated.

During initial setup you want to get the trailer as close to level as you can get it and then match the height of the ball to the ball socket of the trailer hitch as closely as you can by moving the hitch head up or down on the drawbar. It doesn't have to (and probably won't) be perfectly perfect. In other words, if the drawbar height adjustment puts the ball 3/4 inch higher than the trailer one way or 1/2 inch lower at the next lower position, go for the lower position. In the end, hitched up with spring bars installed, it is better to have the trailer slightly nose low and the truck level. As for going to a heavier spring bar, you'll be fine moving up to a 1K/10K setup but a 1.2K/12K or 1.4K/14K setup would, in my opinion, be overkill. One caveat to that is if you believe that in the future you will be upgrading to a larger TT then the heavier spring bars might be something to consider. Note that with some brands of hitch the spring bars are not interchangeable and you'll need a different hitch head to accommodate the higher strength spring bars.

Picked up and installed new wiper blades and 9v batteries for the smoke detectors. Try to do it every 6 months, if they need it or not, cheap insurance.

Cleaned our roof and treated it with Protect All. Good for about 6 months. Cleaned the outside of the 5'er, looking nice. It goes into the shop Wed. to have the front cap repainted.

Spent the day getting the trailer ready for the season. Everything works and looks good, just a tad bit of chaulking on the front round ends.
Then .... I come home happy all is well only to discover an email from my storage facility saying the town has told them to close. I have to be out by the end of June.
Now I'm not so happy as I scramble to find a new storage facility.
