What does DW stand for
I keep seeing DW references and assume it’s wife or partner, but can’t figure out what it means

There are many terms of endearment that start with a D and they can change with the circumstances! LOL,
DW can cover then all and keep you out of trouble.

The "D" changes in meaning the more years that you have been married I believe. It may start out as dear, but....well.....after a while........

Not sure how long 'a while' is, but after 40+ years it's still 'Dear' to me.

The "D" in "DW" stand for "Dearest or Dear" as in "Dear Wife". It really is hardly ever applied in front of the "H". Other consonants and some vowels may be used, I'll leave that up to your own imagination.
Just remember, your can stack up a mile high stack of "brownie points" with your DW over time, but it will take only one demerit to knock them all down!

A "while" is defined as the time between when you say "I Do" and when the "Oh....crap, what did I do" moment hits you. Depending on the marriage, it could be anywhere from a few moments to many years depending on the situation.
In my case, we just hit 21 years. The first 15 seconds or so, I referred to her as Dear Wife. After that....well....you know.
