Octane 161 tongue storage

Since there is no outside storage bins on the 161 I decided to add a tool box to the tongue for additional storage. After measuring and a lot of research I was able to find a box that fit perfectly at tractor supply. I had a certain length in mind knowing what I wanted to put in it. I wanted to add a dual battery set up with a switch as the majority of my usage will be dry camping at tracks. I also wanted to be able to get the Honda 2200 geberator in it. Or have the option to store camp chairs, leveling blocks and the such in it.

To mount it I painted treated 4x4s black to look better then drilled holes up from under the factory grate into the toolbox. I then used carriage bolts and plates to secure the box down. Ran the wires into the back of the box and hooked everything up. The fit couldn't have been better as the lid comes close but misses the cap when it opens. Very happy with this addition.

Smaller front box

Added a ATV box on the front to put things in, because of the tray the mount cannot use the front leg.

This looks great. Do you happen to have the model of the box you went with? And the 2200 fits in ok?

Thanks!

I believe this is the one I went with.

The 2200 fits in great. It's close to the lid but it closes with no problem and stays shut.

Did you provide ventilation for the batteries?

I think I would check the tongue weight if you are going to load a generator.
When you put weight that for forward it could be a problem.
Like Flyrotor said a sealed box could be a problem if you are
using wet cell batteries.

Haha thanks! It's been a great addition and I'm not over on tongue weight so that was a good plus
