2020 Jayco Precept

About to purchase a 2020 Jayco Precept 36A...

What did you pay for yours?
What should I make sure is covered in the PDI?
Does the Jayco 2/3 Warranty matter?
Any other good or bad experiences welcome.

Cheers,
Shawn

Pay 30-35% off MSRP. Maybe 40% since they aren’t selling much since so many can’t work.
Have them show you everything at PDI, Everything!
The Jayco 2 Year warranty is huge, especially if your not out in the coach much.

Welcome to the JOF. As Vicr says the 2 year warranty is huge. You get 2 full camping seasons (if you don’t FT) to take care of any warranty related problems. Hopefully your dealer is responsive to any issues you might have but if not then don’t hesitate to contact Jayco Motorized Customer Service. Be professional and courteous. Make sure you document conversations, phone calls or written correspondence so that you have a running log for reference. This will be extremely helpful for achieving resolution. Good luck to you and maybe your RV will be trouble free and the warranty is a moot point.

I strongly recommend that you have them note everything you find in the pdi before you sign the final docs. We bought a 2020 Precept 36H last November and did not do that. The end result was very poor warranty service after the sale. Not that we have big issues with ours but there were some warranty items, I think we had a list of about 18 items and they fixed none of them after we took the RV back after our first trip. That was a dealership issue, not Jayco.

Jayco's warranty is good. Please note rv dealers are not like automotive dealerships. They do not like working on rigs that were not purchased from them. Some can be really slow. Well worth the effort to buy from a good dealership if you have multiple in your area

I agree that JayCo’s warranty is good, my post had more to do with the dealership, which is reportedly reputable and family owned for more than 50 years. I would have thought same as you that taking your rig back to the dealership where it was purchased would garner better service. That proved wrong in my case. In fact, I believed in this premise so much that my wife and I drove or rig nearly 300 miles back to them for our warranty work. Anyway, no argument with you, just relating my experience. JayCo motorized has been otherwise quite helpful.

Does warranty matter, most definitely yes. Ours is a 36T and we've used it a lot, minor to major items. Never a problem or questions, just time lag in getting parts so be prepared to wait. We full time so the dealer has been very easy to work with.

Hi Shawn,
I live in California and shopped online to find the best price including delivery. In my case a dealer on the east coast sold my my alante for about 8K less then my local dealer and I paid $3k for delivery. Worth saving $5k for me to do it that way. Since didn't purchase from my local dealer, when I needed warranty work he was a jerk and would only fix 3 warranty items per visit. I called Jayco Motorized and they authorized me to use a mobile rv tech (one i used on my previous class C). My advice is if you purchase one and don't find a good authorized dealer to do the work, call Jayco and ask for another option. Jayco gets it, they want to make their RV buyers happy, especially the ones buying class A's. Good luck
