Just a follow up on my 31UL buy and the trip home to Denver from Houston (about 1250 miles.)

The rig performed well on the trip; not one glitch …. until I pulled up to my daughter’s home in Morrison, CO and the steps would not extend (and so it begins? ) I did stay an extra day in Witchita Falls, TX as the winds enroute were forecast to gust to 70 mph+ in places but the day after that, all was good.

I looked underneath at the Kwikee stair installation yesterday and found the 5 amp inline fuse (that "bury" mentioned in a separate post) intact (and the yellow stair light was on for about 30 sec then it turned off as it is supposed to, I believe.) The ground wire from the controller is clean as a whistle at the grounding lug on the frame (I like the way Jayco attached it then sealed it over with some sort of reddish primer or sealer to keep moisture away.) The stairs act like the controller still thinks the engine is running, but who knows? I found the Lippert troubleshooting document online to be one of the most thorough/best overall I have ever read and I ordered the troubleshooting jumper cable needed (from Amazon, no less.) I will start a new thread re what I find later this week. (I will get on it Sat I believe before snow is scheduled to arrive here.)

Bykerhd- 1. Agree the radio/sound system placement sucks. Perhaps when I get my grandson to fire up the remote it will all make more sense. I don’t use the sound system anyway, but I see Jayco uses the monitor to display the b/u cam video and that part is almost unusable right now. I can tell my Kia toad is back there but that is about all. At night all I see is a reddish blob for a toad. Maybe a camera problem……..but that is not high on my priority list. 2. I have had a TPMS for many years now and, for the first time ever, it saved me a TON of grief on this trip. It alarmed a low tire in my toad when I woke up in the Ennis, TX walmart parking lot. Unhooked the toad and drove to a tire shop a few blocks away where they found a sheet metal screw in the tread area of the tire. A quick repair and I was underway ...... an hour and a half late.

Rice 1951- It turns out I don’t have a macerator after all. Straight gravity drop to the black tank. Coulda sworn I read macerator in the brochure.

BTW- Some wondered which microwave was installed. It turned out to be a convection microwave……unusual for this model/year as I understand it. My guess: component shortages causes the manufacturers to install whatever they can get at the time?

Again, thanks to all for your help. It lowered the stress level a bunch.

Happy holidays and safe travels.
