Alante Fresh Tank Overfill?

Hello,

I am reading through the manual and came across a couple of places where it has in bold "DO NOT OVERFILL
THE TANK!"

Under POWER FILL TANK (pressurized fresh water source) in section 8 Plumbing

"Turn the pressurized water source ON, the tank should begin filling.
5. When water has reached the desired level, turn the pressurized water source OFF. DO
NOT OVERFILL. Tank level can be viewed on the monitor panel inside the RV."

and again under sanitze.
"Filling from a pressurized source: Set the valves to the
POWER FILL TANK setting. Connect a non-toxic drinking
hose to the city water connection inlet. Connect the
other end of the hose to the pressurized water source. Turn
on the water source to draw water into tank until full (Do
Not Overfill). Disconnect the hose from the water source
first, then from the utility panel.
Syphon filling from a water container: Set the valves to
the SANITIZE setting. Insert a hose into the city water connection
inlet; place the other end of the hose in a container of
water. Turn the pump ON to draw water into the tank until
full (Do Not Overfill)."

Is there no overflow?

Regards,

John

I'm not familiar with Alantes, but there is sure to be an over flow tube. Filling a fresh water tank under pressure from a hose, I've seen many overflow tubes too small for the pressure and volume of the water coming in. I know my home water pressure filling the RV tank is 60 PSI and around 4 gallons per minute. So, if you are pumping more water in when the tank is full, the overflow tube isn't gonna accommodate it. I think that was what your directions were concerned about. Always open for criticism.

Thanks,

That makes more sense than it not having overflow.

It says have someone watch the panel to tell when it's full.

We have always just filled up the previous campers from the campsite. I knew it was full when it started trickling out overflow.

We would only turn on the pump when we need it instead of constant pressure using "city water" setting.

Our thinking was, no pressure, no leaks when we are not there or sleeping.

Thanks,

John

Our 2018 Alante 31R has the same instructions. In spite of my best efforts, I have filled to overflowing, but not for an excessive time. (That is, we turned off the water when it started spilling out. This happened when I was filling and not paying proper attention. Fortunately, we know of no tank damage.

Using the factory tank gauge is going to give you a vague sense of 'full'. Can you see the water tank from any of the side door openings, such as the access doors to the dump valves or generator? On our rig, we can see the side of the water tank, and because it is translucent, can directly visualize the fill level. Watching that is much more convenient and accurate than having a second person watch the gauge for the F light to illuminate.
