CB antenna mount

I have been thinking of installing a CB antenna on my Precept but don’t really know where to place the antenna. Can anyone share where/how they’ve mounted theirs?

Ideally, well away from everything else... so the middle of a blank expanse of roof would be good.
In practice, that would mean making holes in your roof and climbing up there to take the antenna off each time you travel (low bridges, etc)

Many people attach an antenna to the ladder, if you have one, with a quick-release kit (see above, low bridges...)

I have my WiFi repeater antenna mounted on a short section of PVC tube with clamps to secure it to the edge of the slide-out frame.. that might work for you.

Keep in mind, though, that the CB and amateur antennae you see on cars are designed to be attached to the middle of a big chunk of metal - the car roof. They depend on the ground plane, created by that metal roof, for proper function, and won't work on a plastic TV hull.

To overcome this, use a "No-Ground-Plane" antenna, such as you'll see attached to the mirror mounts on big trucks. These have a load near the base, to give the same effect as the metal roof. They're a bit more finicky to set up and tune, and they do need a very solid electrical ground, but the results will be just as good, once you get them right.

Also note there is not much RV traffic over the CB radio like it used to be. Most everyone keeps in touch via their cell phones now.

The only good reason for me to have a CB Radio is to listen to the truckers giving close by road hazard or police reports...

My CB is under my drivers set with the squelch turned up all the way. The Truckers still use very bad NASTY language over the CB... With the squelch turned up all the way makes you have to be very close to the trucker transmitting...

I drilled holes in the side of my roof area for outside Ham radio antenna connections on my 5th wheel setup... Then I passed my RG cable through the side of the trailer into a ceiling mounted cabinet area on the inside of the trailer... Works great for me. have one on each side on the rear of my trailer.

I’m an Extra class Ham thanks to starting with CB almost 50 yrs. ago that introduced me to the hobby with an old Johnson crystal set. Have gear at home and Cherokee and full portable station that has been overseas several times. In my old age want a CB again as well in our MH for the road. Pretty well decided on Cobra 75 WXST with Midland through-the-glass.

As noted, traffic and hazard information from other road users.

(I've been doing a long commute every day, just recently, so I threw a small portable unit into my car.. a few weeks back, I was able to let a 5th-wheeler know that he was trailing an unravelling water hose along behind him)
