Ideally, well away from everything else... so the middle of a blank expanse of roof would be good.
In practice, that would mean making holes in your roof and climbing up there to take the antenna off each time you travel (low bridges, etc)
Many people attach an antenna to the ladder, if you have one, with a quick-release kit (see above, low bridges...)
I have my WiFi repeater antenna mounted on a short section of PVC tube with clamps to secure it to the edge of the slide-out frame.. that might work for you.
Keep in mind, though, that the CB and amateur antennae you see on cars are designed to be attached to the middle of a big chunk of metal - the car roof. They depend on the ground plane, created by that metal roof, for proper function, and won't work on a plastic TV hull.
To overcome this, use a "No-Ground-Plane" antenna, such as you'll see attached to the mirror mounts on big trucks. These have a load near the base, to give the same effect as the metal roof. They're a bit more finicky to set up and tune, and they do need a very solid electrical ground, but the results will be just as good, once you get them right.
