No DC power

Folks, help me out here if you can. Scenario- Precept 29v 2018, been staying in daughter's driveway for 2 months on 110 shore power. Occasional trips here and there. No power issue leaving, driving, returning. Have used both campground 50 amp and generator power for a/c on hot days. Packed up to head out and when disconnecting from the driveway 110, the fridge kicked over to propane but screen said DC low. Started off thinking it may need to charge up house batteries. After about 30 minutes of driving DC power gave out. No fridge service no Master Power red light, nada. Went to Auto Zone for battery test, 1 was at less than 50% the other at under 75% with severe corrosion on positive terminal tops. Since they were original I got two new ones, hooked them up and - nothing! Checked all fuses in the DC side of the panel, all good. Could not check two that were encased however. Any ideas?? Thanks!!

Have to ask.... Did you reset the battery disconnect?

Read about that but could not find it. Red battery cable goes to a High Amp Buss box.

That's the switch that is usually by the door that connects the batteries to your fuse panel. You just push it, don't hold it.

An item to check would be the battery ground connection to the frame. If this is loose, corroded, or broken, the symptom would be no 12 volts when on battery alone. You would still have normal 12 volts with shore or generator power because those would be powering your converter which is supplying the 12 volts to the system. Also, with that ground missing the batteries would never charge.

Grumpy, if you mean the red light switch that my 5 year old grandson was told "if that light is ever off you tell grandpa right away!"...it is lit up on shore power, will not light up when trying otherwise.

Jim, you got me thinking, maybe the guy who installed the batteries f-ed up (me!). So I tried switching the black with yellow band wire from negative to positive, no sparks and now DC is working! Can you and Grumpy take a look at this setup and see if it looks correct? Got red in to #1, jumps to #2 then out twice to a harness that disappears. Negative into #1 jump to #2 and stops.

Connections sound correct for a 2 12 volt battery setup. The 2 positives will be jumped together and the 2 negatives will be jumped together. The negative connection, which is a single cable, will bolt to the frame. The positive connections will probably be connected to multiple cables that go to various locations.

If it's working that was it.... Any negative/ground would have been white wire or white tape.
