Replace Gen 1 with Gen 2

My Generation One water heater is no good, and I am going to replace it with the Gen Two. Question, is this a DIY job, although difficult, or does it take special dealer equipment?

I've never done it but I would certainly be willing to try. In my younger days I would have been intimidated to do something like this but with the invention of the internet, some basic handyman skills and a little courage, it''s probably not that difficult. There are several videos on YouTube that may help you with this.

I'll bet it's a OK DIY job; I'll bet the connections between Gen I and Gen II are pretty close.

You can head over here to download the installation manuals:

Any reason why you don't want to move to their Gen III unit?

Kevin, are your referring to the Girard tankless system?
If so, why are your changing? Did jayco pay for the upgrade?
Was there a cost?
Thanks

Mike
