Thumbs up 29Mv Window Mod

Hello,
Has anyone modified their frameless Windows to enable them to open more fully? Handy hubby was able to remove the insert that kept the brackets from opening fully. the Windows only opened 2 inches or so and as a result the air flow wasn't very good. Now ventilation is twice what it was....the Windows crank out to 5 to 7 inches depending onThe size of the window....cool (er)

Window mod pix

Hello hopper 4 and LImcamper,
I am trying to upload pix, let's see if this works....here's what he did. The Windows in our rig had a plastic rod inserted in the track where the window struts slide open and closed that govern how far the struts can travel. He removed the rod from the window by drilling out the 2 rivets holding the window crank and lifted it off the frame. This allowed him to slide one of the wheels in the track out, remove the rod then slide the wheel back in. He the reattached the crank with a nifty new rivet tool he bought for this job as he didn't have a large enough rivet gun in his shop. Bonus new tool for the rig! You can see silver rivets in one of the photos,we will paint them black like the original rivets.
It made a huge difference In air transfer!

OK, got it. I hadn't looked at what stopped the window from opening further but now that I've looked closer, it looks like a fairly easy mod. Really doesn't make a lot of sense why they chose to allow the window to only open a bit.

Thanks for your effort to show us the window modification. I will also look closely at my windows to see how the insert was removed. Thanks again!

Thanks for sharing - will show this to hubby. Have been frustrated with our windows' inability to open a bit wider. Thanks!
