Installing a Progressive EMS in a 24FBS

So after reading the 2 other threads about surge protectors, I have decided to purchase and install a Progressive industries EMSHW30C. I checked the area where the shore power cable enters the side of the TT. There is not any access there and it looks like the cable goes up. I'm guessing the cable goes into a junction box above the shore power entry hole or above the ceiling somewhere.

I pulled the converter mounted under the refrigerator and found the 10-2 Romex cable that goes to the 30amp main breaker. I would have preferred to use the shore power cable on the input side of the EMS and the 10-2 on the output making the EMS the junction box. As it stands right now, my only choice is to use the 10-2 on the main breaker as the input to the EMS and a short length of 10-2 for the output and connect it to the main breaker.

Has anyone that owns a 24FBS installed one of these EMS units? If so, where did you install it and did you find the junction box?

Any advice will help. Also, when I pulled the converter out, I found at least 4 cups worth of sawdust and a bunch of construction trash. I could do nothing but laugh.

Hey Mark-
I don't have any answers for you but hope you get some good ones. My 24FBS in in the CW warranty shop now but I am also going to put in an EMS HW30C this spring for protection. Very interested to see the replies you get.
Happy RVing,
Jeff

I installed our 50 A Progressive w remote behind the breaker/distribution panel on our 5th. Access was good due to the basement. My logic was the shore power goes directly to the dist panel before any other taps are made. And, yeah, when I opened the access ares, lots of construction debris.

Hi Jeff,

I'll get pictures to you when I'm done installing it. It looks like I'll be putting it under the refrigerator. I ordered it tonight and it's supposed to be here on Monday. I am also considering mounting it in the rear storage compartment. I'll think about it and see what others may have for ideas.

I hope your TT has a minor warranty issue. I'll be in touch.

Mark

Mark- Mostly minor stuff but waiting 6+ weeks for Jayco to send CW the backordered decals for entire trailer, is killing me. Poor decal installation job by Idaho factory and all full of bubbles and poor or no cuts between panels. Good warranty though as they are covering it all, including replacing the slide out bottom due to a loose extended bolt that caused the base to tear apart, and a sewer line leak.
Looking forward to your pictures.
Happy RVing,
Jeff
