Replaced Marathons with "G" Rated Tires

Today I replaced our Goodyear Marathons with "G" Rated Tires on our Pinnacle.

We should not have any tires problems when we head to Texas and beyond in a few weeks.

I would certainly hope they are up to the task. Look good. Be sure and check the torque on the lug nuts. All tire techs are not created equal.

I did not replace the spare, kept the Marathon "E", was thinking about replacing it too, but guess it will work fine for a "Spare"

Let me know how your TST Systems works in the real world. I got mind about a month ago, but have only used it on my truck so far "playing with it". I'm impressed at this point, but I won't actually use it on the Designer until late April when I head to Florida for the summer.

TST TPMS system

Ed: I bought the TST 510 system w/ 8 sensors. Installed the day before I left for Florida 2 weeks ago. It took all of 45 minutes.

It was easy to understand and works like a dream.

Just told my wife that it was worth every penny just for the peace of mind.

TST system???

Rob...noticed your tires are balanced. I assume it is a good idea since you had the rims off to get the tires replaced. But, are there any who have balanced them just to balance them? I have never done it, nor heard of it being done. Could be a good idea though.

It's always a good idea to get your tires balanced. You'll probably not feel the difference in the tow vehicle, but you can bet that the trailer will feel the difference.

I always do it... some say you dont need to because YOU dont feel the vibration in the tow vehicle ... but the trailer sure does and it will eventually shake the rig apart.

Wow, I missed this thread earlier. Those tires are REALLY close!

I have never know tires to be rated other than P or LT rated (LOL tire challenged!). I guess good to know if we ever go with a bigger rv

I always get my trailer tires balanced, not a must but if I figure if I can reduce the viberation in the trailer when going down the road, seems to me the trailer will hold together longer with less problems.

Another reason for balancing these tires is they almost weight 60 lbs each, you get that much tire weight out of balance and it could get bad.

The picture is misleading, the tires are not that close together, they are probably about 5 inches apart.
I can still install my BAL Tire Chocks between with ease.

I always balance trailer tires including boat trailers for the same reason Rob already stated. I don't want to shake my trailer to pieces either. Yes, I would remove wheels just to have them balanced which I do every 5,000-6,000 miles just like my TV.

These are LT Tires (LT235/85R16), there are several load ranges of LT tires, the "G" designation means a 14 Ply Rating, the "E" Rating means a 10 Ply Rating, the "D" Rating means a 8 Ply Rating, the letters go on down for lower Ply Ratings.

There are also speed ratings for tires too that are usually designated by a letter, these tires are speed rated "L" which is 75 mph.
