Replacement Skylight for A/C hole

I am working on pulling the A/C unit off the roof to swap over to a minisplit. The current 14x14 hole where the A/C unit passes through will be covered by solar panels a couple inches off the roof. I would like to keep the A/C hole and cover it with a skylight even though it will have a solar panel on top of it. In looking at various 14x14 skylights they all have around a 4" height profile that will likely be a problem with the solar panels.

I have contemplated using a flat piece of lexan on the outside and inside and them trimming it out to make it look aesthetically pleasing but wanted to see if anyone else has done this sort of thing and what they used ?
