Simple hack to help my back

The cushions are bad enough, but I could never understand why RV makers build the dinette seats with straight vertical backs. Like an uncomfortable church pew! So, I took a 4-foot foam “Gutterstuff” leaf guard and cut it to the width of the seat back. It is already triangle-shaped perfectly to angle the back cushion slightly. You don’t see it and it makes the seat much more comfortable!

Well, well....you’ve peaked my interest on that one. Does the back stay in place ok? Mine are always shifting and moving around even with the added double sided Velcro I added.

I just did it this week, so haven’t taken the TT on a trip yet. But it looks like it will stay put. I might need to add another couple of Velcro strips a little higher on the cushion backs. I had to replace a couple of the original ones that already had pulled out of the wall (tiny staples they use are worthless.) I might even Velcro the foam wedge to the wall to keep it from moving when I access the storage under the seat.

If someone wanted a slightly less angled seat back, he could cut foam with a different triangle shape, which was what I was going to do. But I found the gutter foam in the perfect shape — easy peasy.

Nice idea. I get the worst backaches when sitting at the dinette. I am prone to back pain and the dinette just aggravates things. I have started using a heating pad while sitting there. Also, I now move over to the couch more often which is my wife's domain. I'm sure she doesn't mind sharing her space.

Yes, the couch is a little better. I do see replacing the cheap foam in the dinette seats sometime in the near future, too. Always some improvement to be made.
