Sun Screen

Question for the group, going to be making a sun screen that will hang from the awning. Question I have how to hang it from the extended end, from off the tubing? It has a slot in it, shaped like a T slot but looks to be 3/16 to 1/4 wide at the top of the T and 1/8 on the "leg" of the T.

My first thought it use a piece of backer rod 1/4 wide warped in cloth binding along the edge but thought I see if anybody else has done this and what other options might be out there.

Thanks all!

We purchased these many years ago to hang lights;

https://www.amazon.com/Camco-42693-P...dp/B0006IX7W4/

We also have a store-bought shade screen and it slides in the same slot as you mentioned and uses a plastic backer rod. It is also designed to leave in place when retracting the awning.

The two cannot be used together.

Use Keder wedlt

You should look for keder (or keder weldt). It a plastic cord already wrapped with a tough material farbric and a"tail" to sew whatever you need onto it. (large sizes are used for sails on boats). Just do a google search to find suppliers.

I made one a couple years ago and just used a rope encased in the edge to run in the slot. I also put grommets on the other side so I can peg it out or use poles to raise it up.

DW purchased hangers (something like these) and brass eyelets. She put the brass eyelets in the shade and I hung them on the awning track using the holders. Has been working fine for at least 3 years. Also put the brass eyelets on the bottom of the screen to tie down to the ground stakes. Amazon has everything.

I bought a couple of these for our two awnings. They come in various widths/lengths to fit whatever size you need.

The bottom section unzips from the top section that stays in the roller tube when you roll up your awning. Easy up and down.

Camco Awning shade screen

Camco makes a awning shade screen with the fittings that slide into the awning end track and anchors two corners to ground with bungees and stakes.

I use fabric shower curtains and magnetic eye hooks. I just set the magnet hooks under the awning bar. Lightweight and easy to use/store. I also use these magnets to hang all kinds of things (lights, dog leash, dish cloths etc) on the arms of our pop up sunshade over our picnic table.
