I added LED stop, tail, turn lights a few weeks after purchasing my 29RKS. I also replaced the clearance/marker bulbs with LED's. Very easy change over.

My current TT came with all LED. Very nice lights all around. It's cool there are LED bulbs for all kinds of lights now.

Taillight upgrade

Most Jayco/Starcraft trailers are using lights produced by Commend Electronics. They have an LED taillight upgrade kit that you can buy directly from their site that is easy to install. Check them out at:

I replaced mine while on my last camp trip with the Command Electronics listed above, everything was good, I thought until one night I went out to open the grey tank and noticed the two of the 21 led lights were illuminated on the right side. Very strange, so I went back to the originals. I have since contacted the eBay seller and he replaced that light. Have not reinstalled them yet though. He said he has had very little problems with them.

Still baffles my mind how the tail light could be drawing any power, hooked up to shore power, but uncoupled from the 7 way, for the 2 passenger side led’s to illuminate.

Sometimes if you have a power leak/ back feeding it can cause this... an incandescent light won’t light up because its not enough power, but an led will because they draw so little.

I did the LED upgrade to our Command tail lights a few years ago, and it was simple to do. Detailed instructions, and all the parts you need come in the box. I did it mostly for the daytime visibility for the signal and brake lights. We noticed the difference right away when we signaled to change lanes on the interstate. Traffic coming up in the passing lane slowed to let us out. It was the best money spent on them.

If memory serves me right, it took about 10 minutes per side.

My lights did not come with instructions and the light wire color codes did not match the Jayco light wire colors, but it wasn’t to hard to figure out. Really cheesy how Jayco uses Scotch Locks for all 12V wire connections throughout the trailer. Quick and easy for them/ headaches for the owner.

bought my Command Electronics exact replacement (bulb to led conversion) tail lights on Amazon. No problem with wires or holes. I did pad around the wires where they came through the aluminum and caulked the outside edges so water could not intrude. $43 and easy to do . Not a lot brighter except straight back but no worries of bad bulbs or corroded sockets. Markers next year!

Apply a little dielectric grease to the socket and you should be fine.

I have Command Electronics tail lights on my FW and they both failed after 2 years of use. They are not sealed and dirt/water collects inside the lamp and shorts out the printed circuit board. They recommend sealing them with silicone when you install them but they weren't sealed when the trailer was built. A tail light without a gasket or seal? What's with that?
They were out of warranty and offered me a 20% discount but I found new ones online for less with free shipping. Given a choice, I would not use Command Electronics products.
