20MRB Slide Seal Question

SWMBO and I went up to our selling dealer this morning to pick up our 20MRB from the work they did under warranty. Their service department works Tuesday to Saturday, so there were no service dept. personnel there today.

Anywho, one of the fixes was to make sure all four corners of the dinette slide retracted the same. Looking at the slide from the outside, the lower right corner was not as tight as the other three. This was fixed.

However, after examining the inside, I noticed the seal on the slide was not even. On the front wall of the slide, the seal actually drags the slide side wall. The rear wall, the seal doesn't even touch the slide side wall. I took some pictures

The first two photos show the front wall of the slide and the second two photos are of the rear slide wall. In the rear wall photos, you can see the white line next to the black seal as compared to the first photos where the seal is right against the wall.

If any of you have a White Hawk 20MRB or 23MRB, will you check your slide while it is closed and see if the seal appears to "wipe" both side walls of the slide. The way ours is, it would explain water on the floor when we brought the slide in after a rain storm as the seal didn't wipe the side as it came in.

Thanks in advance,

Murff

I don't have your model but in general the seals should "wipe" the slide all the way in and out for the reason you note. I'd leave it with them till they can get it right. I might also open a dialog directly with Jayco should a second "fix" still not get it right. Worst case, there might be a defect in manufacturing causing a fundamental alignment problem.

Hated to leave it as it is a75 mile trip one way. Our salesman looked at it and said no way was it right. So we left it.

Thanks T for your comments.

Service manager called today and agreed that slide seals are not right. He is trying to figure out a fix. Hope it's something simple.

Since I am the only one posting in this thread, I still thought those that might be reading it would be interested in knowing that the service dept. at Blade RV in Mt. Vernon WA was able to adjust the slide 1/4 of an inch to the back so that the seal now wipes both sides of the slide.

This is good news as the service manager at first thought the entire slide would have to come out and be repositioned. One of his techs took a look at the situation and figured it could be adjusted.

Hooray! We pick it up tomorrow!

Thank you Murff for this information! We too have a brand new 20mrb and your posts are very helpful. Our seal was against the edge all the way around, like it should be. Was able to check it last night finally.

Glad you got it fixed.

I highly recommend the service dept at Blade RV (part of Blade Chevrolet) in Mount Vernon, WA. Good people and techs to work with, plus the prices are fair.

We just bought our Eagle from Blade, but prior to that we did get service and repairs on our White Hawk done by them.

Murff, glad u got it fixed. You would think since they worked on the slide the gap would have been caught the first time. But at least it's good now. glad to read positive outcomes on slide issues. We bought our trailer without a slide because I worried about issues. Now we are starting to look at bigger trailers with a slide so I like to read these positive outcomes.
