Backup camera on 174BH - Anyone done it?

I do not believe it was factory wired. My plan is to tap off of the center marker light. However, I had read that the center marker is required by DOT regulations so I can't just replace it.

I did get the rear wall strucural drawings. I see that there looks to be a crossbeam just below the center marker, and I'm not sure if the rear panel is attached to that beam really well so I'm curious how I could get the wires from above the beam to below it where I would likely have to put the hole for the camera wires.

Anyone done this? Advice?

The manual says:

Your recreation vehicle has been pre-wired to allow installation of a (customer supplied & customer installed) rear backup camera. Wiring is in place to install the camera at the rear of the vehicle, and has been routed to the master bedroom to allow a hookup for the camera monitor. This feature allows you to use also use your camera as a security monitor.

However, I don't see any evidence of that.

You might have to pop off the center marker light to see if there are wires tucked under there.

On a different model RV, I mounted a wireless camera right above that marker light and just ran the short power wires from the marker light wiring on the outside of the wall. The camera only runs when the marker lights are on, but I'm OK with that.

Yeah I have to pop it off anyway. I guess I'll see if I can tell anything. Otheriwse yeah I think I will run a wire on the outside going down from the marker light.

Be aware if you mount the camera ABOVE the marker light, You will get some glare at night from the marker light. I would highly recommend mounting the camera BELOW the center marker light.
Yes, DOT regs do require the marker light.

Yep, never planned on doing it above.
