Depends on which adapter you are using! Are you trying to adapt a 50 amp trailer to a 30 amp outlet or are you trying to plug your 30 amp trailer into a 50 amp outlet?
If your trailer is 30 amps, then the adapter only uses one of the 50 amp "hot" legs of the plug. If your trailer is 50 amps, the adapter will use a jumper to connect to both "hot" legs.
