Another Winterizing Question

After you drain the fresh water tank do close the drain valve or leave it open for the winter? The dealer winterization check off list recommends leaving it open?? Or does it really matter?

I close my drains back off so no insects or other small critters can get into my water system.

My first thought was the same but isn't the overflow always open to atmosphere?
