I should mention, Atwood is very helpful. You wouldn't think they'd even care about a 12 year old water heater. But they do.

I too await your resolution to this problem. I have a 2008 model with the exact same problem. If I start it it will go out, then try again and lock itself out. I then just turn it off and then back on. It will usually start then so it has to be something with the flame sensor taking too long to get warm. But it will not start up again on it's own when it cycles. It is kind of frustrating.
