Generator

I have a new 2019 Hummingbird 10RK. Wondering what size generator to run all equipment standard. Including coffee pot.

5500 Onan but I doubt that you have room for that.

Figure up what items you will be using at the same time a get something at least 50% and even 100% larger. There are lists of how many amps these items draw.

Air conditioner, portable heaters, coffee pot, wife's hair drier, microwave, fridge, and the list goes on. Which one's will probably be running at the same time. That is your biggest challenge.

My 2017 Greyhawk has a 4k unit. With it I can run:

2 11000 btu air conditioners
or
1 air conditioner and the large microwave
or
1 air conditioner and coffee pot or electric skillet or electric waffle maker
or
everything if no air conditioning on

At all times I can run all lights and TV stuff regardless of what else is on.

Your requirements probably depend on how many air conditioners you have and how big they are. The 4k Onan is a 120 volt unit while the 5500 is basically a 240 volt one which just splits the 240 into 2 separate legs for powering 1/2 the rig with each leg.

If you will be using an external generator with the shore power plugged into it, 4k is probably all you can use assuming you have a 30 amp rig. I think you would need a rig that is set up for 50 amp service before you could even consider a 5500 watt generator.

Looking at the specs for the 10RK on the Jayco web site it shows an 8K BTU side-mount A/C as an option so I'm assuming that is what you have. When we had our 195RB it had an 8K BTU side-mount A/C and we were able to run that fine on a 2000 watt Champion Inverter Generator. As CAG pointed out - it depends on which appliances you need or want to run concurrently.

A 2200 watt inverter generator would be a better choice and still not be too bad to lift in and out of the bed of a truck. Our Champion is about 48lbs. The Honda EU2200iS is about 50lbs. If you want to run more appliances concurrently then you can get another 2000/2200 watt unit and connect them together or a single, larger 3100/3500 watt unit. The larger units are going to weigh a bit more though and can be more of a challenge to get in and out of the bed of the truck.

You have a tiny little trailer with a side mounted air conditioner. As suggested above a 2000watt-2200watt inverter generator with 1700watt peak run will be fine with what you have. I have a Champion 2000watt inverter generator that's 5 years old and still going strong.
