Rear camera, Furrion, preinstalled, no power.

I have a new Jayco Eagle HT (29.5bhds)

Preinstalled Furrion rear camera prep...
I can not find a switch, or wire that isn't hooked up anywhere. It's not getting power from the running lights either.

Any advice?

Next step is to take it to the dealership.

Just a thought is it maybe wired to reverse lights? I know most of them are just wired to running lights but maybe one of those mid year improvements.

Check the wire that's taped off the running light. They used scotch lock to tap into the running light. Mine did the same thing when install and the scotch lock never cut through the insulation on the running light wire. Had to remove the whole bracket off the rv and pull the wires out through the hole and make a solid connection there. I hate scotch locks for that reason. I'm sure they never checked to make sure there were power on that wire since nothing was installed at the factory.

If it's preinstalled it's probably a backup camera instead of the observation camera but either one when you plug in the monitor into the cigarettes lighter you have to run your park light. I hope that helps.

Fifth, Check for a rocker switch in the battery compartment. I installed my own and the switch was in that compartment.....

No switch on mine. Turn on and off with the clearance lights on the 5er.

Thanks all. I've checked EVERYWHERE for a switch. No joy.

In reverse, with back up led lit.
No joy.

Running lights on.
No joy.

I'm probably just going to have the dealer mess with it. I've already spent a day re-clocking the Winegard Air 360+ antenna, so that I had enough wire to hook up the Gateway router inside. Then, resealing the roof. I guess a camper is a camper when it comes to fit and finish of accessories.

open up the area where the camera goes in, Pull out the wiring and make sure that the plastic insulation on the wire is not allowing contact. You want bare wire where the connection was made. This happened to me and as soon as I pulled the wire insulation and made contact, I had a rear view camera.

Hey fifth ,

In the end what was the issue holding back the camera?

I've been battling this for 10 days on a brand new Jayco TT with no luck. Can't believe took me this long to find this post.

Guess next step is to remove the camera mounting hardware and see if I can find where they connected the camera prep wires to the running lights. Maybe the connection there is weak.

Wish me luck.

Wiring.... I pulled the camera mount off, and pulled the wires out to find the splice was not clipped on fully. I put on much more solid splices!

Good luck! 👍🏻

Problem solved!!!!

So unfortunately I had to remove the entire camera prep setup and fish out the wires.

I was expecting a loose connection but actually it was a completely backwards connection.

I was able to get a wiring diagram from Jayco which showed me they simply wired it wrong at the factory and obviously they don't test with a camera before shipping the trailer to the dealers.

This was very frustrating but at least I was able to figure it out and maybe help someone in the future who runs into the same situation.

Here is a photo of the backward wiring and the wiring diagram.
