Wiring for a new battery

First off let me say that I don't know very much about wiring and electricity in general so if I use the wrong terminology, please excuse me. I have a 20', 166fbs TT and I want to replace the lead acid battery with a lithium battery. To do this, I'll move the battery to a different location, from the tongue to inside one of the bays. If I just continue the original cable run, that will add about 10 feet additional cable to the total length. I'm assuming that the original run of cable (from the power center to the battery on the tongue) is about 15' of 8 gauge cable.

2 questions: On the new setup ,should the ground cable go from the negative post back to the power center (as it does on the original battery, I think!), or should it just attach to the frame, close to the new battery itself? And, if the negative cable does run back to the power center, will the added length of cable be to much for 8 gauge wire?

Thanks for the help, much appreciated, John.

I would reposition the battery ground to a frame point near the battery. Make sure you clean the paint off to create a good ground point.

Connect to frame (remove paint) absolutely. The shorter the run the better. Electrons flow negative to positive. In other words, outbound starts at the negative post and returns back to the positive post. Make sure your power center is also grounded to frame. May have to make another short cable for it. Eezy peezy.
