Well, I guess that's a step in the right direction.
Now all they have to do is take away the "smoke & mirrors" around the fact that tow ratings are based on the TV's "curb weight"........, who even tows with a "curb weighted" base model TV without passengers and cargo....., plus I can't even remember when I last weighed 150lbs!

I`ve always been leery of those high tow rating numbers in recent years, especially on the half tons. Perhaps this will help.

What are we going to do for entertainment if we don't have to sort through all of those "Best In Class" commercials on TV.

Look at my signi. I would be the first to tell any half-ton owner with our '13k tow rating' that we personally wouldn't tow more than the 7000-ish of our current tt. We tow as though our max is 9k lbs. When considering additional passengers, "stuff" in the bed, and toungue weight, I'm pretty certain that 13k is estimated way higher than safe.
Great thread Boss, thanks for starting it

It all depends on what you're towing as well... pulling 10klbs of lead on a 18' trailer with good brakes is much easier than pulling a 7k 29' box travel trailer...
That said, the new standards will level the playing field, especially for the folks that don't research the heck out of these kinds of things before buying. They (we) will know that their truck truly can pull what it is advertised as doing, through the worst of conditions.

Yes, agreed, and that's the other thing.... I would never purchase another 30'6" tt to pull with this 1/2 ton! Live and learn
