Andersen 5th wheel hitch

I know there are a few users of the the hitch...Anyone have one that they are no longer using or wish to part out? I need the remote latch cable.

I had a senior moment and broke my cable this past weekend. Luckily I still have my regular hitch and was still able to head out for our camping trip.

Andersen wants $69.99 + $10 shipping...seems a little steep to me...but may have to.

Thanks.

Went ahead and bit the bullet and ordered a new cable from Andersen last night.

Learned a few things from this experience.
1. I have not used my standard 5er hitch in awhile. I did notice that there is 1-2" more clearance between the 5er and bed rails with the standard hitch as compared to the Andersen. Going to raise the ball on the Andersen 1 hole. That should give me the same clearance as with the standard hitch. Which should solve a few minor problems I have had using the Andersen.

2. Going to attach the cable handle permanently to the pin box or frame somewhere.

How did the original cable break, if you dont' mind the question?

I have the same hitch (havn't picked the rig to use it on yet...) and just want to make sure I don't break my cable as well....

THanks.

Stupidity....

I never connected the cable to anywhere permanent...just let it lay in the bed of the truck. Or drape it across the pin box. Somehow the cable handle managed to get stuck on the hitch in the bed and when I pulled forward...POP went the cable.

Sounds like it could happen easy enough. I don't like the idea of screwing it onto the trailer, but....

Me neither...why I did not do it. But....
Just glad I was at home when I did it and not 1000 miles away...

After looking at how it all works though...it should not be that hard to force the locking pin in place...if it ever happens again.

Reinstalled the coupler and new cable this weekend. Picked up some self-tapping screws and went ahead and attached the handle and cable to the pin box.
