Brake Controller Plug

I am at my Ford dealer now having them to find the plug so I can hook me brake controller . I purchased 2020 Ford Explorer with a tow package. I can’t wait to see what costs! Has anyone found this plug?

The brake controller connection should be underneath the steering column, behind the airbag, and underneath the panel. It is real pain to reach it and just as much of a pain to work with it once it is exposed. The connector is grey, strapped in tight, and the connection opening faces the passenger side of the vehicle. I hope this helps a little.

I'm totally surprised it didn't come with an integrated controller since it has the tow package.

Went to two Ford Dealers. Found plug is missing. Had to order it. Dealers know very little about towing. Very surprised by the answers I got about towing with electric brakes. Weight the truck can pull. Why I need a brake controller. After about 3 hrs. of calling Ford they are now specialist at towing.
The part will take a week to get there. I hope this is the only part Ford forgot to put on my Explorer. Can’t wait to pull to see how it feels.

Ditto. I thought that would be part of the tow package.

Must be different because it's an SUV with a limited towing capability. The brochure doesn't even list it as an option, much less include it in the towing package.

I called Ford today and they were not much help. Ford was shipping a plug that would do nothing. No wires just a plug.
I went to a dealer they said it was not needed. The car will take care of it! I told him no you have to have a controller.
I found photos of the location of the plug no a Ford Explorer forum. They took my car and 15 min they came back and told me it’s done.
Dealers know very little about pulling a travel trailer.
Three trips to a dealer. 7 hrs waiting. And they did it!
