F-250 questions

I am a new owner of a 2022 F-250. Had it almost 1 month , 450 miles. All my years I have been a F-150 owner (Cadillac) . Wow what a difference, the 250 is like driving a john deer lawn mower or riding a horse, steering is like rack n pinion . I have the basically loaded package of the XLT, camper package 6.7 diesel . My son had a 2011 which I drove and dont remember it being like that.
Its not really my daily driver but is that how they are ? I did pull the camper (30ft) around the block, yes that was a major improvement/difference

In general, yes you should expect the F250 to ride tougher than the F150. About the only easy thing you can do to help us adjust your tire pressure. The recommended pressure on your door placard is to support full GVWR. You can adjust downward when driving unloaded. My RAM 2500 calls for 60 psi all around, but I like 50 psi when not loaded. Makes a noticeable difference.

F150's are trucks that ride like a car. F250's are trucks that ride like a truck. I love the way an F150 feels on the road. My F350 rides pretty quiet and solid, not so rough. My tires are at 80psi all the time. And remember, the F150 has upper and lower control arms. Unlike a F250's that have radius arms, a track bar, tie rods and steering dampener. Not to mention a steering gear instead of a rack.

Better yet, try a RAM 3500 long bed dually with tires at the recommended max of 65 psi I decided to go by the inflation chart and run my rears at 55 psi even while towing my 5er with a 4,080 pin weight. Much smoother ride.

IRS on Chevrolet and Coils on rear of Ram allow both to ride better than Fords h.d. but all H.D. trucks ride significantly firmer than their half ton counterparts. The first engineer who solves payload requirements of a h.d. and provides ride of a half ton will be well compensated.

I'm not positive on the 2022, but the camper package may have uprated front springs (stiffer). It will definitely ride stiffer than the F150.

I'd recommend checking/adjusting tire pressures and consider replacing the OE shocks with something like a Bilstein or Fox. Shocks can make a big difference in overall ride quality.

EDIT: According to Ford's website, Camper package includes 2-Up front springs for 4x2 and 1-Up front springs for 4x4. So, yes, you have stiffer front springs than a truck without the camper package. Great for payload, not-so-great for ride quality.

Take a look at the rear springs. The F250 and F350n springs are significantly larger to handle the increased payload. That makes a more stiffer ride. What is interesting is my F350 rides best when loaded with my fifth wheel.

I don’t think changing shocks do much for ride improvement. What made a noticeable difference on mine was when I replaced the original Continental tires with Coopers at about 65,000 miles. Mileage also dropped a bit with the Coopers. I changed the shocks just before the tires. Went with KYB’s and a Bilstein steering dampener

Shocks can improve ride quality, but I think it would be almost negligible on a nearly new truck. I think this is a matter of getting used to an HD platform and tire pressure. Not sure what Ford has on the door sticker, but GM had 60f 80r on mine. If I drop the rear to 60 it’s makes for a pretty nice unloaded ride.

I’d go after tire pressure, and then just drive it more till you’re used to it and/or things kind of loosen up a bit.

I think the dynamics are different between a long and short bed but we have used our long bed F350 for several long solo trips. We also use it about half the time for trips to Costco or Sam's, both about 50 miles from us. We have no problem with the ride. The road has to be pretty bad before it becomes uncomfortable.

There are 2 things I did when I first got the truck. One is change the shocks. I bit the bullet on this one and went with Fox 2.0. The ride is much more compliant than with the OEM shocks. Number 2 was put a set of Sumo Springs on the rear and set the height on them to not be a factor when empty. They only work when I hook up the fifth wheel. I always run my tires per the sticker, 60 in front and 80 in the rear.

I've driven em all, and yeah my 96 and 06 f250s were rough. Not bad enough I thought it was an issuebut rough. Our new to us (last year) 17 F350 DRW, rides like a Cadillac. I love the KR, duel climate control is nice, love the glass roof, and the Absolute must for leather is the heated and cooled seats, I use both often based on weather. Not gonna lie, love the massage seats too on the longer trips. It's not often mine is empty, I'm either hooked to the 5th wheel, or pulling a trailer with stuff, or a tractor on it. I drive either a 19 explorer, or sometimes an 11 escape as a daily, but o ly for fuel costs. I love the truck and wouldn't hesitate to daily it if it weren't for the obvious cost of fuel. I love the ride, and have yet to be bothered about parking with a dually. Only thing I miss is driving over to the car wash a d riding through. Last half ton truck I owned was a 77 silverado, and I did axle and suspension swap from a 1 ton in it, so not a fair comparison, but it rode awful lol. Guess it's all in what you get used to, but I still prefer the truck. We have a Honda Ridgeline at work, and it's not stiff, but it drives terrible. Loose front end feel, turning radius is awful (for size), and just really not a great vehicle...
Sorry to ramble, but I think you settle into, the stability when hauling is worth the difference.

My 2018 F150 is a car that looks like a truck. I think my 1975 Cutlass Supreme had higher payload

After having a number of 1/2 ton trucks, I now have a 2500HD 4wd Chevy. I'll never go back to a 1/2 ton. If I want a car ride I will drive my Buick.
