Ford 7.3 MPG

I traded in my 05 F-150 in January for an 02 F-350. So far I am getting 15.5 MPG combined local and highway. I did tow my TT for 15 miles just to test the truck. What are you getting with your 7.3 towing and or around town.

I get 14.5 avg local with my 03 6.0. I've gotten as high as 16.5 if I baby it.

If you open up that beast with some 4" turbo back exhaust your MPG will go up considerably. Probaly 2MPG.

Oh yeah and try a change with full synthetic for added MPG.

I think you can pretty much expect 10-12mpg when towing, no matter what diesel motor you've got (worse if it's windy). Even some of the new gas motors are getting this with the new fuel technology.

I have an "02" F250, 7.3 litre, Stupiduty Powersmoke, Supr cab, 4X4, XLT. I get 16 MPH +/- (all urban driving(i.e. freeway & surface streets)) When pulling Our Jayco 2009 25.5 RKS Eagle Superlit 5'r average from 11.5 to 12.5 MPG with an average speed of 60-65 MPH with tack around 1,950 RPM. Thats the best that I've been able to get "Beula" to do, although she's stock with 92,000 miles.

Mine is a stock "02" F350. I try to never go over 2k RPM if I can help it. My first trip is in two weeks (Memorial Day Weekend) so I am very anxious to see how it does. I would love to get 12 pulling.

I believe in using cetane booster in my fuel periodically, especialy if I'm going to empty the fuel tank on the trip. This helps keep the injectors clean IMHO

My '03 6l gets 17-20mpg when not towing. Get around 10-11 when towing but suspect that will go down a bit since I have a new trailer at 3k lbs more weight.

Just because everyone is talking about their big trucks. My Dakota gets, 21-23 mpg hwy (not towing), 14-17 in town (not towing). And 9.5 (with ac on) to 12.5 when pulling our new 23B (4700lbs).

I am getting 17mpg combined freeway and local not towing. I dont have enough data on towing to give good numbers yet.
