Ram 2500 6.4l

I drove 3 RAMs today. The 5.7 & 6.7 were both Laramie Crew Cab 8" bed configurations. The 6.4L was a Laramie Megacab(the only other 6.4 was a reg cab Tradesman). I like the power of the 6.4. The torque gets there faster, and lasts much longer than the 5.7. Does anyone have, or are they considering the 6.4 an a'14 RAM?

Didn't know the 6.4 was out already. Can you get it on get 1500?

Agreed on the torque compared to my 5.7, but not sold on the 6.4 in hd for towing when u have the ctd option

The 6.4L is a $1495 option. The CTD is an $8495 option, 35% higher fuel price, DEF, and has higher maintenance costs.
My 3.5 yr old truck has just over 17K miles on it(4 mile round trip commute to work), so it would take me about 18 yrs to make up the cost with the meager mileage difference. It's hard to justify that much extra expense for a monthly camping/snowmobile trip.

You can't get the 6.4 in the 1500. The current iteration is tuned for HD use, and would probably be pretty disappointing in the half ton.

A 4 mile round trip would be very hard on a diesel, no time for it to warm up and get the DPF to cycle.

They dropped the DPF setup in '12, and are on DEF now. The drive is quite a bit of up an down hills, stop signs, and stop lights. I get up to normal op temp, but you're right that I wouldn't be in it long enough for a DPF burn.

Diesel doesn't need emission testing here, so I also toyed with a used 08-11 that I can do full delete on.

Sure is. It's called Max Steel. Looks like the Nissan Galaxy black sometimes, and blue others.

Will do! Through the first half of the first tank, it's currently showing the exact same mileage I get from the Titan in the winter. That's hovering around 12, but it's 100% in-town driving. It'll be about 6 weeks before I get to tow the travel trailer, but I will be climbing over a 9200ft pass on the first trip.
