Chris,

Yep, good move on re-checking your WDH settings.

My up-graded Putnam XDR receiver was 2" higher than the old OEM receiver, but since my old OEM receiver pin box was bent up-ward with my spring bars engaged, I didn't even have to raise my ball mount to accommodate my new receiver once I re-checked all my WDH settings.

You'll notice right away as soon as you engage your spring bars that there is an immediate weight transfer taking place.

Bob

Not too hard to remove...I have a 350lb cordless impact...best 125 I ever spent! Made installing the hitch a breeze too... Bob..thanks for lightening the pics... Looks like about a 1.5" inch difference...about a bolt hole up on my EQ shank...should be an easy adjustment!

Chris,

Sounds great! Now that you have a means to transfer weight to the front suspension consistently, also make sure that when using the WDH "hitched-up" you return the front TV fender height back to it's "unhitched" height after making your adjustments. Not doing so will make for a hard TV suspension and may compromise handling/steering characteristics.

Again, good move on up-grading your receiver.

After two months of using the new hitch setup....can anyone tell me why GM doesn't use this as OEM? What a difference...thanks for all your help!

Prior to 2000 GM did use a more conventional style receiver, I had them on two prior GM trucks and they were great. When GM changed the body style the receiver was re-designed so it wouldn't stand out as much, a cosmetic thing.

The other problem is that most of the "nasty" GM OEM receivers out there never get used, or tow small/lite utility or boat trailers......., it's the RV minority (us) that have had the problems with them.
