Wax Paper as a hitch ball lubricant

Somewhere I remember someone saying that they used wax paper as a lubricant for the hitch ball instead of grease. Has anyone else heard that or tried it. It seems like the paper would get shredded after the first turn out of the driveway. Want to get rid of using grease on the hitch ball if possible.

I did it on the X23B and it seemed to work fine. When I took it out it was pretty well shredded as you suspected. I heard about it as “an old-timers trick”. Not sure I’d do it with a heavy TT tho.

I have heard of it. There was a post a number of years back that had a lot of talk about tongue lube, and this was a big topic in that post.

Personally I have never used it. I'll just keep using my grease, and a red Solo cup to cover the ball when not in use.

I use it on my table saw table and the wood slides very easily. Not sure I would use it on the ball of a trailer. It doesn't hold up very well after a few good uses on a table saw or planer feed tables

There are several "Dry lubes" that would work too each time you hook up.

you have metal rubbing against metal. why wouldnt you want grease to protect ot. Try putting waxed paper in your bearings and see what happens.

Woodworker you need to try A Bostik product called "Top Coat". Designed for table saws etc.. no petroleum Oils or silicones..so no issue with finishing. I've used it for year and year works fantastic and lasts quite a while.

As far as wax paper... why? I spray a lithium grease about once a year and never have an issue.

The box lasted me around 7 years and cost maybe a buck an a half or $2. I'd say that wasn't bad

I think the can was about $7 when I purchased it.. I've has the same can for probably 8 to 10 years. You don't use much and since it lasts you don't need to re spray your saw often. Even when I had my shop it would last months, on a number of different pieces of equipment. Now only time I have to replace it is when I get glue on the saw table

I don't think we even have wax paper in the kitchen anymore LOL

Bad habit of also putting a cold drink on the table which if not caught soon enough leaves rings. I need to cut a piece of plywood to cover the top when I'm not using the saw

I always used wax paper till I got my Hensley Arrow. The only thing you have to remember using wax paper is to put a finger up inside the hitch after you unhook and fish the pieces out...
