2017 X23b 13.5k dometic fan problem

Getting out for the first time this year.

Ran the ac unit, fridge and water heater about 3 weeks ago off of a 3500w predator generator to test things out. Make sure I had winterized properly.

Aside from the powder post beetle issue I have in the bathroom wall, i found myself with a new issue.

I went to turn on the ac unit and the fan wouldn't spin. Not while on ac or fan mode. Ac compressor kicked on just fine.

Took off the interior shroud and it was difficult to spin at first but eventually spun freely. Ac has been working since the last four hours.

Unit will remain on until we leave Sunday, but a question for what am I in for?

I plan on taking the fan shroud off again and checking for axial play and any other play.

What else do I need to look for?

If I need to replace it do I need to do it from inside or outside on top of the unit?

Is the roof strong enough to support my 240lb butt?

Thanks in advance especially from my 5 month pregnant wife

I did the Easy Start conversion on my A/C (2018 X23B) and the roof held my weight (180 lbs) okay, but there were some areas where it "gave" a little more than I anticipated, but it has the "magnum truss" roof so I didn't worry. I mostly sat down on the roof and used a moving blanket to protect the roof material and also to help distribute the weight a little.

As for what to look for, I'd check all the connections (after removing the exterior shroud) on the top and make sure nothing jiggled loose. Maybe it just needed to get "unstuck" and hopefully will work okay for you now. Good luck, with your baby and with your soon-to-be newborn!

The roof will support you. It is made of a thin plywood, and and is supported every 24 inches, so it does flex.

It sounds like the starter capacitor has failed and needs to be replaced. It is located up top under the shroud.

If the fan didn't spin freely, them most likely it is not the starting capacitor. It might be the bushings in the fan motor, in that case a new motor might be needed. We need more info.

We got through the weekend!

I had to apply about 10lbs of pressure to free the fan, after which it spun freely.

After it had been off half an hour when packing up it started the fan up without difficulty.

I will try running the fan again in the next few days to see if it has come back.

I also need to check it for any kind of play.

Thanks for the tip with using a moving blanket. I also have eternabond tape on order.

Will report back.
