Add shower doors to inside shower in X17z?

Is it possible to replace the shower curtain in my 2014 z17z with shower doors? Has anyone done it and was it worth it?

I haven't tried it, but I do have an x17z, and it seems like adding a shower enclosure and a door would add a good bit of weight to a camper that doesn't leave you much cargo capacity to play with. I wouldn't do it.

Thanks Steve. Our tow vehicle is a Chevy Silverado and will be able to handle the extra weight. I was just curious if anyone has done it before.

I'm not talking about the towing weight. I'm talking about the weight of stuff inside the camper itself. Most x17z's have a dry weight of around 3,000 to 3,100. The maximum weight, including cargo, is 3,500. That doesn't leave you a lot of wiggle room for gear, food, drinks, bedding, etc. I'm just saying I wouldn't take up 50-100 lbs. by adding a shower enclosure.

I agree with what SteveMM is saying. It don't take much to bend axels either.
I read too much on this forum how the axels can just barely carry the GVWR weight. The trailer manufacturers do skimp and do not bake stuff BEEFY!

The x17 was designed for vehicles rated to tow 3500 pounds. The x19 is basically same floor plan (plus two feet) and an extra axle for higher cargo carrying capacity.

The doors which h I have found info for online are pleated types for RV's and have shipping weights of 10 to 15 pounds and considering how hard it is to keep the floor dry with that curtain it might be worthwhile.

I am sorry. I had found a listing for an Irvine shower door with a photo of a corner shower. When I inquired I found the photo was not correct, it was for a "straight" tub style door, not the "Neo-angle" style. The website for Irvine Shade & Door Shower Doors : Irvine Shade and Door has a Neo Light Shower Door listed, but I have not been able to obtain any specs for that.

My husband was looking at changing out the shower curtain for a door model, but I just modified the curtain instead. I used a hole punch and punched a few holes along the side and bottom of the existing curtain and then used suction cups with hooks to hold the curtain in place. I placed the suction cups along the side wall and the interior of the floor of the shower. I also made a custom floor mat out of towels that goes around the toilet and fully fits the floor space of the bathroom. Makes clean up super easy.

My apologies. I didn't realize Jayco had upped the GVWR for 2018. I just looked it up and you're absolutely right. The dry weight is listed as 3190 and the max weight is listed as 3950. That does make a bit of a difference. It almost doubles the amount of cargo you can carry.

I wonder what they did to increase the weight rating? Stronger axle?
