We just picked up our 17XFD (the X18D replacement) and the beds aren't tiny. They are slightly smaller and so are the tanks, but still a great trailer.
I'm 6'2 & 250 lbs, and wife and I share a bed just fine. Not as good as our king at home, but it's good.
The main difference is in the tank sizes and the hallway room of the trailer, IMO.
I prefer the new look of the Jay Feather trailers versus the old ones, and I prefer the lighter weight by going to a 7ft platform.
