CO detector

Our CO detector keeps sounding when the battery is hooked up. The Propane alarm goes off. The propane is and has been turned off (haven’t used the camper in several weeks), all appliances that use propane are off or closed. Any ideas what the cause for the alarm could be? Going camping this weekend and don’t want to be passive to an alarm, but……

How old is your unit?
These detectors have an expiration date to them and they will start sounding an alarm when they expire.

It’s a 2018 model. I wonder if it could be due to a low battery.

It’s expired I would bet. I believe most have a 5 year life span.

I don’t recall.
The last one I bought was off Amazon.

They run about $60.00 for the replacement in my unit. I bought one from Amazon and returned it as it was already two years old. They are good for 5 years from date of manufacture

I bought one on ebay from: https://www.ebay.com/itm/22576899784...3ABFBM_M67k-Vi

Had a few questions before purchase and got immediate responses. Price was better than anywhere else. $26.00. Expiration date on new unit was only a month or so short of full life. Received within a few days.

Doesn't sound like your present problem, but they can also be tripped by certain aerosols such as spray on sunscreen.

I was told the life span of CO and CO/propane detectors begins at the first power up to 12 volts. I have replaced our end of life detector with a new one that has a non-current date stamp, and it lasted the 5-ish years from installation.

I can't say that for every brand of detector, just the one that's in our TT.

X2. The manual for the detector states 7 years after power up.
