Water heater
How long should it take for my water heater heat to get hot water? I have a 2013 X23B. I do not have a pilot light correct? It does heat but seems to take longer than it used too. Thank you!

Are you using gas or electric. electric takes much longer, gas in my HTT takes about 30- 45 minutes for real good heat, warm in 20.

'... takes longer than it used to.' Hmm... have you drained and cleaned the hot water tank annually? Could you have a build up lime deposits in there?

I am using electric..... Working fine now.
As far as "cleaning" it, how do I go about that? Thanks!

In short, with the system off (water pressure off and water heater cooled down) you pull the drain plug, drain the tank, and stick a water heater rinser in (Camco 11691 ~$6.50). Flush the heater tank with water from a garden hose.

How do you flush it? Put hose where the drain plug is? Thanks!

Our '12 23B water heater was gas only and I had to manually light the pilot.

If it is on gas only, I would clean the orifices from the regulator in the wh compartment to where it ignites. Blow it out with compressed air. Something like a spider web or dirt dauber could be preventing the gas from burning hot enough. The flame when heating water should be blue.

I cleaned mine and flushed it out today by opening the pop off valve and letting water connected to the city water connection run through it first, then turned off the water and pulled the plug and turned water back on and let it run out the bottom ... worked great and I didn't get soaked like once before when I pulled the plug with pressure still in the system

Strange...my 2011 x23B has gas/electric with auto-lighting...

You control the water from the garden hose with the on/off valve on the rinser. You connect the garden hose to the rinser. And, with the rinser valve 'off', insert the rinser into the tank through the drain plug hole where you removed the drain plug. You then turn the rinser water valve 'on' and move the rinser around in the tank (up, down, and rotate) with the water flowing. The water and sediment etc. in the tank then flow out.

Maybe a picture will help. https://www.bing.com/images/search?q...bo0&ajaxhist=0
The flush device is small enough for the sediment to run out around it.
