X23B Door

This is going to sound stupid, but has anyone come up with a good way to keep the door open? On my 2012 X23B the awning bar is right behind the door, so you can only open the door 90 degrees. I have to tie the door to the awning frame to keep it open. Just wondering if someone has a better idea.

Thanks

Ernie

What year is yours? Did you buy it used?

Our 23B has a 20 pound, 20 inch gas strut that keeps the door open. Hit me up middle of next week and I can take some pictures

I have a similar situation as a result of me removing the gas strut from the door and frame. I removed the strut to install new solid steps. Until I can think of a alternative solution for holding the door open, I use a small bungee. Perhaps someone will chime in with a better solution.

I was wondering (because we want solid steps) if strut could be moved to top of door?

As for OP, doesn't 2012 have a strut to hold door? My 2018 does.

My 2015 would not allow for the strut to be placed on top, as the screen door has a gap and a sweep at the bottom that allowed for the strut. The gap is lacking at the top.

Having installed the solid step is well worth removing the strut. I just need to devise another way to hold the trailer door open.

I think my 20# gas strut is broken. I will replace it and see if that works. Thanks for all the input.

Personal I would go with a 15 lb. As the 20 pou d is to strong in my opinion.

Mine is a 20" 10lb strut and what I went with. Works very well and not too strong, but strong enough to do its job without damaging the mounts over time.

The one I have is listed as "RV Designer G21, Gas Prop Door Support" on amazon.

So i took the advice and ordered a 20" 20 lb. strut. The door works like new and stays open when it should and closes easily.

This is what I ordered off of Amazon.
