2019-2020 Eagle HT fifth wheel trailers

Saw this today in the RV Newsletter:


Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Eagle HT fifth wheel trailers equipped with MORyde Orbital or You Turn Rubber Pin Box Wedge Kits. The pin boxes may have been equipped with bolts 1-3/4″ in length when they should be equipped with 2″-long bolts. When the pin box is unlocked, the incorrect length bolts may allow the rotating pin box to rotate in two places, increasing the risk of a crash. Jayco will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the bolts and replace them as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin September 20, 2019. Owners may contact MORryde customer service at 1-574-293-1581 or Jayco at 1-800-283-8267. Jayco’s number for this recall is 9901435.

Got this as well. I wonder what bolts? I'd love to just pull them and take a look myself.

I thought the same thing, “should be an easy fix”. Then I thought of what if something did happen maybe not even related to the recall. If you didn’t have a record of a licensed service tech fixing this issue. Could that cause problems with a warranty or insurance claim? I have a couple of other minor things I need fixed, was going to do them myself. Now I’ll just tack them onto recall inspection and scheduled an appointment.

Eh, I've fixed everything else on the trailer already. My dealer is a 2 hour drive away and always scheduling me out 3-4 months. Sure I've got the great Jayco warranty but pulling a bolt and measuring it isn't worth the hassle of it IMO.

Someone posted about this issue a few months ago, when he had a failure and was beat-up pretty good by members of this forum over using the bolts that Jayco/moryde provided that where to short.

That seems to be the case with a lot of owners on this forum. I guess I should consider myself lucky. My dealer is 20 min away and about a 2 week wait.
