Always something...to fix

While watching the World Cup today, I thought I would multitask and try to fix a couple of small things in the RV....first, the two light control panels in the kitchen area and in the front by the passenger seat seemed to be swapped...as the one by the passenger seat had the kitchen sink/under counter light button on it, and the kitchen area had all the main ceiling lights and entry ceiling light...so swapped the panels (broke one of the connectors on one, but was able to glue it back together - whew), and now can control the kitchen lights from the kitchen area.

Second, on our last moving day, found out that the Dash HVAC vent control wasn't working...wouldn't change the vents...so took that apart and found that the plastic rod between the knob and the circuit board switch broke...how I have no idea...so trying to glue that back to gather as well with Gorilla glue, but not setting fast enough...will try super glue in the AM...this module is almost $900
so whatever I can do to avoid that cost, I will do...

Just FYI, in my experience (primarily hobby experience), I have found that when encountering an issue like what you described that the cause of the issue is with the switch itself being stuck or sticking, causing the control arm to it to break. I would highly recommend making sure the switch moves freely and if it doesn't I would use something like this to clean and lubricate the switch. Doing so will allow the plastic rod to not be under as much pressure as it would have had and will likely have after you have it glued back in place. ~CA

Also available at many auto parts stores.

Copy, good idea...I was able to completely disassemble the module so have direct access to the switch and the knob...was able to get the switch to turn, but glue is not holding the plastic rod to the switch... not even super glue.

so will try to etch a slot in the switch plastic and somehow make a small extension of the rod with a T like end as to fit into the notch I make in the switch...

I was able to move the switch to at least the floor and dash vent position instead of defrost position where it was when it broke....

Maybe some JB Weld? Sticks to a lot of stuff. Make sure no oil or won't stick!

(Update)

Finally the super glue set on the plastic HVAC vent control switch post and the switch now turns...will handle with kid gloves from now on...
