Bauer Door Key Lock

I have a 2009 Jayco Greyhawk 31SS with a Bauer Key operated entry door lock. Periodically while locking and unlocking the door, the key stops working. If I wait a bit, the lock starts operating again. I have shot the lock with WD-40 but it still fails.

I have attached pictures of the lock.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. TIA

In locks, I usually use Graphite Lubricant. Not sure if you can use the graphite after the WD-40.

The problem I am experiencing is not constant. To go from locked to unlocked requires turning the key 180 degrees. Sometimes the key will only turn 90 degrees, then it is immovable. If I hit the lock with my fist, it eventually frees and the key will the move. To unlock the key is turned clockwise, to lock it is turned counterclockwise.

It is easy to take the lock assembly apart clean it and reinstall it doing that took care of my problem with the lock.

I see that your unit is an 09 also. Do you have the Bauer entry door lock that utilizes key AE046?

Seann45, I see you have the same year unit as mine. My lock is a Bauer using key AE046. I have removed the lock and disassembled it. I removed the backing plate and got down to the lock cylinder. I could not see anything wrong, the tumblers appeared to be operable. If we have the same lock in common, what problem did you experience and what was your solution?

Graphite is a better solution for locks than WD40. You can also look into replacing the lock set. I replaced several of ours to get to a “one key” trailer (originally there were 3).

There was nothing wrong with my tumblers but the deadbolt was sticking sliding in and out. I washed the entire assembly with brake cleaner let it toughly dry the lubed it with graphite. I have not had a problem since

Thank you everyone for your responses. I bit the bullet and ordered a BP-12RV from Bauer. This is the key model for $60 plus shipping.

Should have this in about 10 days, I will then install it. After the new one is installed, I will attempt to remove the cylinder and see if I can determine why it is binding periodically.

Thanks again
