How can it be a check valve if I don't have one?

Hooked up to city water and water is leaking into my grey tank- sounds like a bad check valve from all the forums.... but my RV has been gutted and the water pump is cut out- so how is this possible?

Here's what it looks like behind the water hook ups in my RV.
White fill hose from the outside- to I assume the water tank.
The old grey water line connects to the city water on the outside and then is capped to what I assume should be where the water pump would go- notice the white hose going thru the floor, again to I assume the water tank.

So where/how is water leaking into my grey tank?

Interesting issue. There is NO direct connection between the pressurized plumbing and the GW tank. How much water is getting into your tank? Are you using the camper at all?

The only way water can get into the Grey water tank, is through a drain, such as a sink or shower, and the roof vent. Have a dripping faucet? Someone leaving the water run while doing dishes or brushing their teeth?

Edit: another question, Grey water tank, as noted above, or are you talking Fresh water holding tank?

I can't see any reason why there would be any fresh water connection to the gray tank. The only way water should enter the gray tank is down a sink drain. It should be isolated from the black tank feed which should only get water in it from down the toilet, unless you have a pressure clean out but that would be a separate hook up to the water source hose.

Ok so a few more details-
I use the RV for short term stays on a burn property while I rebuild.
It is hooked up to city water as it would be normally.
I have it plumbed into my septic.

I moved it last week and now I see that water constantly trickles out of the 3” waste pipe which would be used to dump the tanks and I had plumbed to septic.

Here’s what I KNOW:
Water trickels out of the waste pipe when the city water is on. When I turn off the city water the trickle eventually stops.
No faucets leak/ drip.
Maybe a side note but I believe the water heater is starting to leak- but how would that get into the holding tanks/ waste line?

Water heater has no direct connection to the Grey water tank.

How long have you let the sewer drip when the waste gate is closed? I get a slow drip after closing my valve, not sure for how long. But when I open the cover, there is a few teaspoons of waste water at the cap. Could it be residual water in the waste pipe line slowly draining out?

Another thought, the waste gate valve is could be leaking, and needs to be replaced? 33 years, is an old waste gate. May just be a small leak past it. As you can never get all the water out of the tank.

Honestly I don't know how long it has leaked, this is the first I've known of it since I disconnected the 3" black waste pipe I put on it and threw a bucket under it to catch the grey water while I had it moved temporarily.

It's far more than residual water, if I leave the city water off all night there is no trickle, turn on the city water in the morning and the drip starts up within minutes (honestly not sure how long, but its quick.)

I thought about the gate valves, but again how is the water getting into the tanks? And I'm not sure which tank it is could be either one as they both flow into my 3" waste line. Could the toilet have an internal leak?

I'm completely stumped on how water gets into what appears to/should be a sealed system if nothing is going down the drains.

The toilet could have an internal leak, but that's plumbed only to the black water tank. Does/did this have an outside shower at one time?
If so, that could be your culprit.

Get an inspection camera and run the cable into the tank from the dump valve and watch where it's leaking from. These cameras can be used for so many other things, Amazon has the cable that connects to a smartphone
