continuity between positive terminal and the frame set on 1k.

With the ground disconnected check the frame to battery negative terminal, + on ground and - on neg battery term. With all breakers closed there should be some + volts due to the paracitic drain (micro, co detector, radio).

Red Horse, yes there is the parasitic draw you describe, I'm not as concerned by the discharge as I am about the lack of power to the generator. I was hoping for some solid info from others that may have had similar problems but think I'm just gonna have to send him to a shop. The sad thing is that it is probably a relay or solenoid somewhere..

Wow Solo, this is a tough one. You may be right about the shop. Was hoping we could diagnose the prob remotely but sometimes you just gotta be there. If you come up with more symptoms let the forum know. There's loads of really smart and experienced people that will chime in with their experience. I'm not really experienced, just curious.
