Step tearing off

On my Hummingbird the steps have developed a tear that is about two inches long in the steel mounting plate. I'm planning on having it welded and a reinforcement of angle iron added.

Also neither one of us weighs over 150 pounds.

Got the steps back. The welder reinforced each side with angle iron and they should last a long time.

Weak design. Within the past month there have been at least two other people with the same problem on Hummingbirds. The steel is tearing at the bend of the mounting flange.

I hope those welds look better in person than they do in the picture.

They ain't gonna win a beauty contest but the mounting flanges are a lot stronger and more stable than when made. After the picture I wire brushed and painted.

Thank's for the heads up! I will keep a close eye on mine.
