TPO Roof Maintenance?

What is the best prep cleaner for TPO roof membrane prior to Dicor Sealant?

If you are going to re- apply or remove and replace dicor almost any good safe detergent is the first step. Then hit it with acetone to remove any residue of wax, dirt or soap.

But before I used Dicor I would urge you to consider going to Eteanabond tape. l just spent a bit of time over several days to remove all exposed Dicor and replacing it with Etearnabond tape. Some Dicor was like new where it had been protected from sun, etc. by vent hoods. I covered that with Etearnabond.

Now I will inspect my roof a couple times a year but I won't have to worry. I did find cracks and voids in the Dicor as I removed it that weren't visible with a normal inspection.

I just used some Dawn and water, and wiped down with denatured alcohol over the old sealant.

It's perfectly acceptable for TPO in moderation, it is not good for EDPM which is a rubber base.

Thanks for the responses. I had heard denatured alcohol on the Dicor, and I have some. Will do that. I am just touching up, not removal and replacing the Dicor.

Finally got around to touching up my Dicor. Glad I did. When I was sliding across the roof, to get to the next area, I snagged my pants on something. It was a staple that had just penetrated the roof membrane. Has anyone seen this? I bet the answer is yes, many times.

Yes I have had them poking up near the sides where they used staples to attempt to anchor the metal that is near the sides and under the roof material. I have repaired them with a small cut, remove staple and replace with a screw and cover with a small Eternabond patch.
