Waterproofing 17a hybrid

Hey all!

We recently upgraded from tent camping to a 2000 Kiwi 17a. We’re very excited!

The people we bought it from took extremely good care of it as it looks, smells, and operates like new!

It’s lasted 18 years, I’d like it to last 18 more.

The bunk ends have not leaked, but I recently had a leak in my house which cost us too much money so now, water is my nightmare!

What product can I use to treat the bunk ends to make certain they won’t leak?

Thank you much!! Here’s to many years with our new gem!

I have the same trailer, same year. Bought it 9/17. No leaks at all, even through the Arizona ‘monsoons’.

Congratulations! We had a 2003 Kiwi 17a that we bought new and owned for 10 years. Never leaked at the bunks and neither does our current X20E. We loved that little trailer.

I'm assuming that your bunk ends are vinyl covered? If so there really isn't much to do. The vinyl is in itself waterproof. Maybe apply seam sealer to the seams. The window flaps are straight canvas so you might want to spray them with water proofing for canvas, something like Kiwi Camp Dry.
