2017 Seneca AC

Is there any other reason other than a bad compressor that would cause the AC and heat pump not to work? Fan works for all settings, high, low, cool high, cool low, elect heat. If there is other reasons, can I diagnose them while on the road with muiltmeter etc?

Last summer I had the same problem on my 2015 37TS. I tried everything to no avail. I switched out compressor capicator, swapped wall thermostat and confirmed compressor was working by monitoring its temperature as it heated up. I had called Coleman and they gave me some multimeter checks to make and all checked out. Other then that, they wouldn't help any more. My assumption was Freon had leaked out but was never sure. I finally took it to an RV repair shop late last full and they were unable to diagnose it for sure either. I now have a new unit installed. Not what I wanted but old one not rechargeable.

On our trip we just got back from our rear unit blew 70 degree air on cool hi/lo and heat hi/lo. Opened things up and checked while still on the trip, just making sure there were no loos wires or wires wrong and the only thing I found was the thermistor sensor had fallen out of the fins but putting it back did nothing. Meausured the amps draw from the compressor (purple wire on inside harness) and showed 4.55 amps. When I called in the tech said that it was either a bad compressor or coolant leak and being a 2018.5 they will be replacing under warranty.

If the reversing valve is bad, I had two go bad, the compressor has too much head pressure and will not start.

Rusty this would be a good time to upgrade to a 15000 BTU with a heat pump - if you think that you want one - we cant imagine having a 13,500 and no heat pump sometimes we struggle to stay cool on hot days Les

Thanks for mentioning it but the front and rear units on the 2018.5 Seneca are both 15000 btu units, 2019 is when they went to the smaller rear unit.

Picking up my truck from Jayco Service this weekend. We had the same problem with the rear unit and the work order says they replaced it.
