Generator door on Redhawk 24B

Hello,
Did anyone modify generator door to stay open while working on it? Is it safe to drill into the slide?
If there is a way can you please share what you did and maybe some photos would help.
Thank you

You won't care for this solution but I just bought a short extendable pole that I use to prop the door open and to hang my sunscreen on the ends of my awning. I did want to drill either. Forgive me because I can't remember, but it seems as maybe the door did not open all the way flush against the wall anyway, not sure.

I usually use the generator service panel to hold mine open. Or a broomstick?

I've thought about putting a strut on it, but I'm thankfully not in there often enough for it to be an issue. Typically once a year for the oil and air filter change...

Generator door

I use a suction cup to hold it open.
